Aloha Eats

13 Jun

The best way I can describe Aloha Eats is Hawaiian comfort food.  It’s a super casual eatery, you basically order at the counter and grab your food when it’s ready.  Everybody there is super friendly and you really feel like you’re getting some authentic Hawaiian hospitality in the middle of Lincoln Park when you’re there.

I ordered the Pork Katsu which consists of boneless slices of pork breaded with premium Japanese bread crumbs, fried, and chopped into smaller pieces over white rice.  Served with home-made sweet and tangy Katsu Sauce.  I ordered the mini version and it was plenty!  It also came with a side of macaroni salad.  It came out piping hot and super crunchy.  It was delish!  After awhile though, the breading got to be a bit heavy and I got full pretty quickly!  My friend ordered the plain Saimin which are skinny-thin egg noodles in a warm broth with vegetables.  It reminded me of the traditional Chinese won-ton noodle soup minus the won-tons.  Definitely good when it’s chilly outside.  All in all, I enjoyed Aloha Eats.  It’s a great go-to place when you’re hungry and want something quick with quality.  Also a plus, it’s next to Molly’s Cupcakes!  Bonus points!
